I agree , the U tube or V boat is much safer !
When Difly and I first purchased float tubes , we chose the round ones . Because we were not sure if we would like float tubes , we went cheap and bought small ones , which were not made for adults .
Shortly after buying them , we made a trip to Deer Lake . We got into our neoprene and headed down to the lake . I got into my boat , no problem . But Difly however , somehow managed to flip hers backwards while getting in ! As I was farther down shore and faced the other way I had no idea what was happening . In the meantime , she was upside down in the water struggling to get out of the tube . Because the round tubes have a sling type seat in them , which fit between the legs , she could not get her fins out . She was kicking like mad and they would not budge !
Fotunately , after a great deal of squirming and kicking , she managed to get her fins out and dive further beneath the boat to free herself !
Of course , we realize now , we should not have purchased the small size boats . They flip much easier ( if your an adult ) . But I think those sling type seats in the round tubes can be dangerous !
